New York
Occupation: Hotel and restaurant
Collection: Union

Dedication of the New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of New York Health Center on October 24, 1950. Note the patriotic bunting so common in 1950, and once again on display since September 11, 2001. Do you think the hotel trades union had a close relationship with the Hat, Cap and Millinery Workers' Union? The absence of women on the dais reflects the contemporary pattern of male leadership in unions, corporations and other institutions.
